Background
Improvements were made to Stourport High Street, as part of the wider Town Centre Improvements Programme.
These were needs identified as:
- the footways needed repairing due to defects throughout and patchwork repairs from previous utility works
- issue with parking on the footways needed to be tackled to prevent ongoing damage and to improve safety for pedestrians
- a need to replace the street lighting, with an upgrade to LED units
The proposals for Stourport were developed to encourage the town to prosper and to compliment the key themes of Worcestershire’s Corporate Plan “Shaping Worcestershire’s Future”.
Objectives
The objectives were to:
- make improvements to street aesthetics
- encourage improvement of footfall, time spent in the street and encouraging of non‐vehicular transport
- improve safety for non‐vehicular transport
Outcomes
Key components of the scheme included:
- relaying/resurfacing footways
- installing bollards along both east and west footways
- repairs to existing mosaic
- new LED streetlights
