Under Section 251 of the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009, Local Authorities (LAs) have a statutory requirement to prepare and submit a budget statement and a outturn statement for each financial year to the Department for Education (DfE).

These statements, provide a detailed breakdown of the planned expenditure within Children’s Services and published on the LA’s website.

The publication of these statements ensures transparency, allowing interested parties to understand the allocation of funds within Children’s Services.
