Background

The EnviRecover Plant was on of the largest infrastructure projects in the region and delivers a massive reduction in the use of landfill for the disposal of household waste in the two counties.

Located on the Hartlebury Trading Estate near Kidderminster in Worcestershire, the facility complements Worcestershire County Council and Herefordshire Council's other waste and recycling facilities, such as EnviroSort at Norton.

His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester officially opened EnviRecover in June 2017.

EnviRecover will transform up to 200,000 tonnes of waste per year (that's the equivalent of over 13 million black wheelie bins of waste!) into enough electricity to power 32,000 homes – that's enough to power all of the homes in Kidderminster, Stourport on Severn and Bewdley combined! 

• every year, the plant will turn 200,000 tonnes of household waste, the equivalent to 13 million black wheelie bins, into electricity
• each claw grab of waste produces enough electricity to power a home for an entire year
• every year the plant will produce enough electricity to power Kidderminster, Stourport-on-Severn and Bewdley combined
• every year the plant will produce enough electricity to power the whole of Hereford
• the average household in the UK wastes £700 worth of food every year, that's 8 shopping trolleys worth!
