Lesk Engineers' Success with Elevate Growth Programme

Lesk Engineers, a precision engineering firm based in Worcester with over 50 years of industry experience, specialises in subcontracting for various sectors including commercial, defence communications, automotive (Morgan cars), and aerospace (Eden).

Participating in the Elevate Growth programme, Lesk Engineers leveraged the peer sessions to connect with local business owners, emphasising the value of in-person interactions and peer-to-peer support amidst the rise of globalisation and online sales.

During the programme, Gary Ketteringham of Lesk Engineers collaborated with another Elevate client, Nick Godfrey from Central Scanning, to develop 3D printed prototypes for pre-programming tooling, especially beneficial for complex components. This initiative was a direct outcome of the Elevate Growth programme, which supports SMEs with growth ambitions and is partly funded by the UK government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Worcestershire County Council.

Gary Ketteringham expressed, "We have had some parts manufactured by Central scanning and this was a direct result of the peer sessions held in connection with the Elevate Growth programme. I contacted Nick at Central Scanning who I met at one of the Growth Forums last year asking him to 3d model for some of our complex machining for fixtures fittings and tooling. For me, the biggest thing was having a physical prototype so we can ensure the accuracy of the tooling before we make the actual component.”

The 3D model produced by Central Scanning is used to aid in designing complex tools used for maintenance and laying phone cables.

Through the Elevate Programme, Lesk have established valuable supplier relationships, opening up opportunities for increased business growth and success. Since joining last year, they have expanded their supplier network and gained further business from Pharma Packaging Systems Ltd, another Worcestershire business who are benefiting from the support available through the Elevate programme.

As a result of their participation in the Elevate Programme, Lesk also joined the Skills Boost programme provided by Worcestershire LEP, further enhancing their skills and capabilities.
