Business support case studies - Hugo Technology
Elevate Worcestershire growth grant case study - Hugo Technology.
Hugo Technology is a medical repair company based in Bromsgrove. Founded in 2001 by Andrew Parton and Warwick Oakey, the company provides medical device maintenance, repair, service, and support. The company has grown significantly over the years and recently acquired new premises.
The company employs 92 people, over half of whom are engineers positioned throughout the UK. One of Hugo Technology’s main services is responding to breakdown repairs and providing maintenance in hospitals.
The company faced a challenge after needing to move into a new site due to growth opportunities.
They knew there was going to be a lot of work involved in the process, and they had a vision to transform it into a fit-for-purpose facility. Stephens Alexander, Business Manager at Hugo Technology, had calculated the spend for the project and decided to contact the Elevate Growth Team at Worcestershire County Council after searching online for support.
Through the Elevate Growth Programme, Hugo Technology received specialist support, benefited from peer-to-peer support with other local businesses, and received consultation to help them apply for the grant. The grant part-funded their relocation project.
The programme had a significant impact on Hugo Technology, it not only helped to develop a fit-for-purpose premise, but it also helped improve its sustainability credentials. Because of the grant, the company was able to realign funds to invest in other projects enabling them to be more efficient with their finances and secure more contracts.
Hugo Technology installed partitioning, air conditioning in the workshops, and other necessary features for the facility’s improvement, thereby reducing energy bills. In turn, this meant the team was more comfortable in the engineering workshops, and it also boosted staff morale.
Hugo Technology highly recommends the Elevate Growth Grant scheme, not just for the money but also for the additional benefits such as energy and staff savings.
