Memories and Me
Memory Bags are available to loan for carers and families of individuals living with dementia through the Memories and Me project.
The Memories and Me project have created specially designed Memory Bags to enhance communication, foster meaningful discussions, and bring joy to moments spent with individuals living with dementia. They are available for loan to carers and family members.
Each Memory Bag centres around a unique theme, such as sports, childhood, travel, gardening, pets, or music. The contents vary by theme but typically include a mix of:
- picture books, puzzles or games
- sensory objects related to the theme
Every item is thoughtfully chosen to engage the senses, spark reminiscence, and encourage meaningful conversation.
The carefully selected items offer prompts that can help people living with dementia and their family or carers engage in meaningful activities. They are ideally suited for use in one to one situations, or small groups.
All library staff have been trained through the Alzheimer's Society 'Dementia Friends' programme. They are ready to support people living with dementia as well as carers or family members to find the right library resources or activities for them.
