How to become a taxi driver
Information about working as a Private Hire and Hackney Carriage driver.
To operate a vehicle in return for payment you need a licence.
Licences are managed by the six district councils within Worcestershire.

Please note: as part of the process to obtain a licence from your district council, you are required to complete Taxi and Private Hire Competency Certificate training, this is delivered by the Council, however you must first apply for your licence through your district council.
Worcestershire Taxi and Private Hire Competency Certificate
All District Council policies require applicants for driver licences to obtain the Worcestershire Taxi and Private Hire Competency Certificate. The Certificate confirms the applicant has the required knowledge and skills to be a licenced taxi driver.
To be issued with a Certificate, applicants must complete a one-day training and assessment course, and a practical driving assessment.
