Antenatal and parenting programmes

Programmes include:

  • Birth and Beyond Antenatal Course
  • Understanding Your Baby
  • Understanding Your Child
  • Understanding Your Teen

To book onto a programme, contact the family hub.

Short workshops are available on topics such as sleep, fussy eating, behaviour, and teen brain.

Online courses

There are also online courses for parents and carers that you can do in your own time (called the Solihull Approach). These courses are for parents and carers who want to learn more about sensitive and effective parenting and building a positive relationship with their child.

You will then need to create your account and select the course/s you want to do (you can do them all over time). Once registered, you have unlimited access to all courses.

Appointments: midwife and health visiting service

Midwifery and Health Visiting Service (Well Baby clinics and development checks) clinics are run by appointment only.

Speech and Language Therapy (SALT)

SALT clinics are run by appointment only.

Speech and Language Drop in sessions are available at Pear Tree family hub.

Vitamins

Vitamins are available for free through the Healthy Start scheme or to purchase at a low cost at the family hub, this includes:

  • pregnancy and breastfeeding vitamins (£1.00 or free with a healthy start card)
  • vitamin drops for babies and young children - these are suitable from birth to 4 years old (£1.80 or free with a healthy start card)

Where cash payments are made, exact change would be appreciated please.

Unfortunately, family hubs are unable to accept payment by debit/credit card.

Support groups

Support groups include:

  • SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) - Own, Space, and Time: Fridays 10:00am to 12:00pm (term-time only)
  • BreastBuddies breastfeeding support group - the group is on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month from 10:00am to 11:30am

Volunteering opportunities

The Family Hubs are supported by friendly volunteers, helping young people and families across Worcestershire in a number of different services. If you are interested in making a difference and volunteering within your local family hub, then the following roles are available:

  • administration/business support volunteer
  • community hub volunteer including Stay, Weigh and Play
  • parenting peer supporter

  • Family Information Service (FIS) enquires (impartial information on childcare, finances, parenting and education)

  • advice on a range of health and wellbeing topics and signposting to support services

Parking information

Please note: Unfortunately there is no parking available for visitors. You are encouraged to utilise local car parks or on-street parking where available. Please be considerate of homes/drives and do not block other cars.
