Enhanced Early Years Provisions

Enhanced Early Years Provisions

Enhanced Early Years Provisions are for children whose identified complex needs make it difficult to attend an early years provision.

We have completed a full review of the current Nursery Assessment Units and are implementing our commissioning intentions, to deliver suitable early years provision for children with SEN. We plan to commission a suitable provider to deliver an Enhanced Early Years Provision, with the intention of enabling children and families to access their entitled full Nursery Education Funded hours.

The outcome of the review and updates can be found on our website. We have used the findings to support the development of the below Enhanced Early Years Provision (EEYP) Specification.

The Enhanced Early Years Provision (EEYP) will provide an important function for children with complex Special Education Needs (SEN) within the county. The intention is to deliver:

  • enhanced provision for children whose identified complex needs make it difficult to attend early year provision(s)
  • Early Help Services for parent/carers of attending children
  • an enhanced provision to enable children and families to access their NEF entitlement

The places for children will be allocated via a termly, multi-agency planning meeting for children with identified complex needs. The needs will have been identified through an Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) or an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
