Kinship fostering

Kinship fostering

Information about kinship fostering.

Kinship fostering is where friends or family members have been assessed and approved as foster carers to care for particular children whose parents have consented for their child to be looked after.

The Local authority share parental responsibility for children on care orders with their birth parents and social workers will remain actively involved in the child’s life.

Additional support

From September 2024 Worcestershire Virtual school will provide advice and information to all kinship carers with Special Guardianship and Child Arrangements Orders as part of their non-statutory role.
