Following a positive response to hosting two young adult employment events last year, Worcestershire County Council hope to duplicate that success with another double dose of the Worcestershire Careers and Apprenticeship Roadshow this October.

The Worcestershire Careers & Apprenticeship Roadshows provide young people, aged 15-24 with everything they need to take the next step on their career journey, with hands-on advice and support from Worcestershire businesses plus training and education providers. Last year saw thousands of young people take part, exploring apprenticeships, traineeships, further education, and employment opportunities.

This year's events will take place at Sixways Stadium in Worcester on Tuesday 8th October 2024 and at Heart of Worcestershire College in Redditch on Thursday 24th October 2024. Both events will take place between 3.30pm-7.30pm and are both free to attend.

Judy Gibbs, Head of Skills & Investment at Worcestershire County Council and Director of Skills for Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership looked forward to both events being a success: “This year we’re celebrating the tenth anniversary of Worcestershire Apprenticeships plus the launch of brand-new career hubs in Redditch and Kidderminster, so it’s a great year to once again double up on the Careers Worcestershire Careers and Apprenticeship Roadshows. We’re passionate about giving Worcestershire’s young adults the best start in life, and these events help to do just that. They give everyone the opportunity to explore their options, whether that’s further education, apprenticeships, or starting a career journey. We can connect them directly to the right people that can guide them towards making the best choices for their future. It's not just about career options; it's about supporting their overall wellbeing and empowering them to make informed decisions that set them up for success.”

The free-to-attend events are open to anyone aged 15-24 and offer a unique chance to explore the full range of career, apprenticeship, education, training and skill opportunities available locally.

Worcestershire County Councillor Adam Kent, Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills passionately stated: "Skills and employment lie at the very core of our Corporate Plan, and events like these are key in empowering people with the tools they need to thrive. As a parent, I deeply appreciate the significance of such events—my own daughter chose a degree apprenticeship to kickstart her career and I started my career via a youth training scheme in the 80’s. It's crucial that we continue offering diverse and accessible career pathways for everyone across Worcestershire. The Careers & Apprenticeship Roadshow provides a fantastic opportunity for some of the county's top employers, educators, and industry leaders to inspire and guide young people in shaping their futures."

The Careers and Apprenticeship Roadshows are free to attend, and participants can drop in anytime between 3.30pm and 7.30pm at either event.  If you are unable to attend but still require support you can get further information on apprenticeship opportunities at www.worcsapprenticeships.org.uk or for career support/advice visit www.careersworcs.co.uk.
