A new consultation has opened to get residents feedback on the latest plan for monitoring and enforcing mineral and waste management developments.
In Worcestershire, the County Council has the role of County Planning Authority (CPA).
As such, it has responsibility for considering planning applications for mineral extractions, the management of waste and the County Council’s own developments.
It is also responsible for monitoring and enforcing these developments, to ensure they are in line with their planning conditions.
A new plan has been drawn up to set out the objectives and priorities that the County Council as CPA, will follow when called on to consider enforcement and monitoring issues.
A breach of planning control is when there is unauthorised importation or disposal of waste material onto land within the county or if there are complaints concerning a development that merits investigation.
The plan sets out how the County Council as the County Planning Authority will monitor and enforce, including the steps it will take when investigating alleged cases of unauthorised development.
Residents are now being invited to comment on this draft Planning Enforcement Plan, which is available on our website.
The consultation will be available for six weeks from 22 October and closes on Tuesday 3 December.
Anyone in Worcestershire can make comments on the Draft Enforcement Plan Document in the following way:
- by email: PlanEnforcement@worcestershire.gov.uk
- by Post: Development Management, Worcestershire County Council, Directorate of Economy and Infrastructure, County Hall, Spetchley Road, Worcester, WR5 2NP
Councillor Adam Kent, Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet member for Economy and Infrastructure said: “Your local knowledge and comments will help us ensure we have the best process for monitoring and enforcing planning breaches. The County Council has a range of enforcement powers and this consultation will maintain the integrity of the decision-making process and provide reassurance that the processes are fair.”
