International Women’s Day is just a few days away and this year Worcestershire County Council are marking the occasion by launching an online campaign this week (7 to 11 March)

The online campaign, Worcestershire Women’s Week, will fall in line with International Women’s Day on 8 March and will look at some of the women from Worcestershire history; women who are thriving and inspiring in Worcestershire today.

For those who aren’t familiar with International Women’s Day, it is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

This year’s theme of #BreakTheBias aims to celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness against bias, and act for equality.

Throughout Worcestershire Women’s Week, the County Council will be looking to share a range of fact files of women from Worcestershire history.

From aviators and soldiers to novelists and performers, the campaign will showcase how throughout history, women in Worcestershire have continued to #BreakTheBias.

Alongside fact files, there will be testimonials shared from current Worcestershire Women to highlight their experiences within different industries, how they have overcome gender biases,

as well as what advice they would offer to other women and younger females looking to follow in their footsteps.

To keep up to date with the whole campaign, head to the County Council social media pages between Monday 7 to Friday 11 March.

Following this campaign, the County Council hope to run a similar campaign for the males of Worcestershire, which will fall in line with International Men’s Day in November 2022.
