Free Maths and English courses for adults have been announced by Worcestershire County Council.

The county council’s Adult Learning Worcestershire service have launched new courses, aimed at people aged over 19, with weekly sessions getting underway in September.

Their comprehensive range of courses include Maths Functional Skills, Maths GCSE, English Functional Skills, and English GCSE with courses taking place at easily accessible venues across the county as well as online.

Anna Lee, Learning Services Manager for Worcestershire County Council, said she’s pleased to be able to offer the provision to local residents: "We are delighted to offer free Maths and English courses to Worcestershire adults and with our diverse learning opportunities, people can develop essential skills to enrich their lives and enhance their job prospects. We also have a whole host of other courses on offer and these Maths and English courses can open the door to more learning opportunities such as art, digital skills, health, wellbeing courses, as well as courses aimed at displaced people who have made Worcestershire their home.

Alongside our Young Adult provision of study programmes and traineeships, we are proud to be able to offer learning opportunities to everyone aged over 16 in the county. Education is a lifelong journey, and our courses cater to the learning needs of the local community and empower people to improve their essential skills and offer the chance to chart a path to success."

Worcestershire County Councillor Marc Bayliss, Cabinet Member for Economy, Infrastructure, and Skills, shared his excitement, saying, "The availability of these Adult Learning Worcestershire Maths and English courses is a testament to our commitment to providing skills for life to our local community. We recognize the value of education in empowering individuals and fostering a thriving economy. I encourage all eligible residents to take advantage of these opportunities and unlock their full potential."
