A new survey is being launched across Herefordshire and Worcestershire asking smokers ex-smokers, and vapers about quitting smoking.

The aim of the research is to help us understand what support, people who want to stop smoking, might need.

Local research company DataOrchard is leading the research with the aim of understanding more about the attitudes and behaviours of smokers and vapers to find out what makes the difference in helping people reach their goals.

DataOrchard will also be running some focus groups at various locations around the two counties and is inviting people to come forward.

The online survey is available until Friday 3 June. The focus groups will be running during this period.

To take part in the survey, please visit the Smoking and Vaping Survey 2022 pages on Survey Monkey.

Anyone interested in taking part in a focus group should email Madeleine Spinks on takingpart@dataorchard.org.uk or tel. 01432 800523.

Focus group participants can receive a £15 voucher for taking part.

Councillor Karen May, cabinet member with responsibility for Health and Wellbeing said: “Stopping smoking is one of the best things you will ever do for your health. It not only improves your physical health but also is proven to boost your mental health and wellbeing. Quitting can improve mood, and help relieve stress, anxiety and depression.

“This survey will help us make sure the right support is available to help people achieve their stop smoking goals.  If you're able to take part in either the survey or a focus group, we'd love to hear your views.

The research will be used as part of a new Smoking Needs Assessment, used by Public Health to help commission services and interventions for community smoking and tobacco stopping smoking.
