Worcestershire Children First are proud to support LGBT+ Adoption and Fostering Week.
LGBT+ Adoption & Fostering Week runs from 7 to 13 March 2022.
The campaign is run by New Family Social and aims to encourage lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender+ people to consider adoption and fostering.
The theme this year is #BeTheChange and highlights how the LGBT+ community can make a huge difference when adopting or fostering and consider the different children they could be the change for.
Councillor Andy Roberts, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: “We assess the ability to provide a safe and loving home for a child or young person. Your sexual orientation is not relevant. Every child who is looked after is different, and every carer is different too. We promote and support diversity among the fostering community. You do not have to be heterosexual to foster.”
He added: “We view our foster carers as our most valuable resource and are proud that we can boast long-serving, committed foster carers and staff. We need people to come forward who will enjoy caring for children and who have patience, resilience and want to make a difference to the life of a child.
“Worcestershire Children First Fostering is passionate about promoting family care opportunities for our children and supporting, guiding and helping carers to provide stable secure and nurturing homes in the short or long term.
“WCF Fostering provide foster care placements for Worcestershire children and we are proud to call ourselves the Biggest Fostering Family in Worcestershire!”
