New webinars will help people begin their family history journey with hints and tips about how to get started.

Worcestershire Archives and Archaeology Service will host the online look at family history, helping people get started on their family trees, looking at key sources and how to search for information.

The first of the family history webinars will focus on the key things to think about before starting looking into your family’s past.  It will then look at the main sources for getting started – Census, Civil registration (births/marriages/deaths) and parish registers.

The second webinar will look at wills, school records, military records and trade directories.

Paul Hudson, Outreach manager at Worcestershire County Council said, "Family history is fascinating and increasingly popular, but often people don't know where to start. Following on from our webinars last year we are running these two sessions to help people begin, restart or continue their research".

Over 300 people joined the Worcestershire Archives and Archaeology service’s Family History Website webinars last year, to taking advantage of the expert knowledge on offer.

Places are £6 and need to be booked in advance.

Part 1 will be on 23 March 7:30pm, with part 2 the following week 30 March 7:30pm.

Book on the Events page of the Explore The Past website and a link will be sent a day before the webinar.
