Worcestershire on demand bus

A trial from Worcestershire County Council is due to start in January which will enable all veterans who live in the county to travel, free of charge, on our Worcestershire on Demand bus services.

These services are currently live in the Bromsgrove and Malvern Hills areas with plans to expand further next year.

Worcestershire is home to over 22,000 veterans and supporting them with free travel is something the Council is trialling in recognition of their Service to our country.

Councillor Marc Bayliss, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, at Worcestershire County Council said: “The announcement today to trial free bus travel for our veterans shows our commitment, and our gratitude, for those who have served for our county and our country.

“I’ve been working behind the scenes to enable more free bus travel for our veterans for some time, and this trial is the very start of what we’re hoping to be able to offer. I’d like to thank and commend Councillor Martin Allen, a former veteran himself, for his dedication on this opportunity.”

More and more people are using this popular service, which offers a sustainable and efficient way of travel.  The buses run from 7am until 7pm Monday to Saturday.

On demand buses offer a great alternative service to the familiar local bus.

They provide a flexible, affordable, and sustainable form of public transport. Local veterans will be able to request a journey through an app, are collected within a few metres of their location.   On demand buses offer a bespoke alternative service to the familiar local bus.
