Travel by Train to Worcestershire with travel partners Great Western Railway

A brand-new partnership has been unveiled to inspire encourage people to travel to the county and bring more domestic tourism to Worcestershire.

Great Western Railway and Visit Worcestershire have become travel partners to promote travel to the county by rail for tourists departing from London, Bristol, Oxford and the South West.

The partners are pairing up to try and encourage tourists to take advantage of the seven stations across Worcestershire.

These include Evesham, Pershore, Worcestershire Parkway, Worcester Foregate Street, Worcester Shrub Hill, Malvern Link and Great Malvern.

Both organisations will be working on joint marketing activity highlighting the County’s fantastic assets and attractions – and will be looking to build on the 700,000 people that saw Visit Worcestershire’s latest out of home campaign as they came into the Birmingham train stations for the Commonwealth games.

Working closing alongside tourism businesses located near the railway, the partnership is set to boost the Worcestershire visitor economy showcasing why the county is the perfect weekend break.

Worcestershire can be accessed in as little as two hours from London Paddington by GWR’s state-of-the-art Inter City Express Trains and even shorter journey times from destinations such as Oxford and Reading.

Councillor Marc Bayliss, Cabinet Member for Economy, Infrastructure and Skills at Worcestershire County Council, said: “This is another opportunity for Worcestershire to be front and centre in peoples minds for a weekend break away or day trip. Utilising the railway links between major cities and the county. This partnership benefits the local visitor economy and offers sustainable travel options for domestic and international tourism.”

Travelling by train is a sustainable way of travel reducing carbon emissions and resulting in fewer vehicles on the road.
