Children across Worcestershire are invited to get involved with a huge range of activities happening this summer.

Ready, Steady, Worcestershire have partnered with providers all across the county to bring together the Summer Holiday Activities Programme, ensuring there really is something for everyone to get involved with during the school break.

With a huge thanks to community partners and providers, a wide range of summer holiday activities will be available across the county including adventure, sport, crafts and dance to horse riding, drama, science, cooking, and nature exploration.

Councillor Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member for Education said: “I’m really grateful to all of our community partners and providers, and the Ready, Steady Worcestershire team for putting together such a comprehensive programme of activities for our children to enjoy during their summer break.

“I’m looking forward to hearing about the fantastic memories made across the county. We also understand the school holidays can be challenging for families who depend on school meal provisions, and it is vitally important that we support families who find it difficult to feed their children during the holidays. We will support these families in the best way possible through Ready Steady Worcestershire.”

Lisa Carroll, Head of Children, Families and Youth, YMCA Worcestershire said: YMCA Worcestershire are delighted to be working with Worcestershire Children First and our colleagues from across the county to support children and families this summer. This collaborative approach has developed over the past 15 months to ensure Worcestershire children do not go hungry when school is out. We are pleased to see that, as we navigate our way through Covid-19, delivery is now moving to much needed in-person delivery. YMCA Worcestershire are thrilled to offer holiday club places across our settings as part of this programme.”

The Summer Holiday Activities Programme is aimed at children aged between 5 to 15 years old with something for everyone!

Families can book through the Ready, Steady, Worcestershire page or through the providers and the online booking system will be live from the 12 July.

This initiative is part of the wider Holiday Activities and Food programme, a government funded scheme to make Summer Activities and Food available to all families.

It will run alongside the Free School Meal Voucher programme and Free School Meal eligible families are welcome to both vouchers and activities over the school holidays. A healthy, tasty lunch will be provided at all activity clubs.
