Public Health in Worcestershire, together with NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group and Worcester City Council are working to help people in parts of Worcester get their first vaccination where they haven’t been able to already.
As we move into the next phase of the vaccination programme, there are still some people who haven’t had their first vaccine despite having been eligible for some time.
We appreciate not everyone who wants a vaccination, is able to take up the offer. To make it easier for those that do we’ve teamed up with St John’s Ambulance and local NHS staff to provide a local vaccination clinic. It is taking place this week at the King George V (KGV) Community Hub off Brickfields Road in Worcester.
The 'pop-up clinic' will be in place for one week until Friday 28 May.
From Monday 24 May, residents who are 32 years and older and who live in postcode areas WR4 9 (Gorse Hill) and WR4 9 & WR3 8 (Rainbow Hill) can book an appointment for their first vaccination by contacting Worcester City Council on 01905 722233 between the hours of 8.30am and 9.00pm.
The pop-up clinic will be in place for one week and appointments will be offered at short notice.
Dr Kathryn Cobain, Director of Public Health for Worcestershire said: “Across Worcestershire vaccine take up has been really good and we are so grateful to everyone who has come forward so far.
“We do know there are some areas where take up is lower, meaning pockets of people who will be more vulnerable to COVID-19.
“I am delighted St John's Ambulance and local NHS partners have joined with us to put on this 'pop up clinic' in the city. It is the first of its kind in the county and will make it much easier and more convenient for people to get vaccinated. This not only protects themselves but also helps to protect their loved ones and local neighbourhood.”
Dr Ian Tait, Chair of NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group added: “The vaccination programme across Herefordshire & Worcestershire has been a great success with more than 92% of eligible cohorts now vaccinated. This initiative will help make the vaccine available to those areas where the uptake is lower, but if you don’t live in these areas and are eligible you can still book online or by calling 119.”
Lloyd Griffiths, Corporate Director for Worcester City Council added: “We are really pleased to be supporting this local vaccination site at Brickfields and would encourage as many people who have not yet had their first vaccination to benefit from this opportunity and play their part with helping to protect our City.”
