A new Careers Worcestershire hub in Redditch, was formally opened this week (Monday 9 September)
Building on the success of the first Careers Worcs hub at The Hive in Worcester, the new Redditch hub, located at Heart of Worcestershire (HoW) College on Peakman Street, aims to ensure that young people across the county can access these vital services.
Careers Worcestershire (Careers Worcs), a service launched by Worcestershire County Council and Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership in 2022, offers a wide range of support including employment, education, training, skills, and wellbeing guidance.
Judy Gibbs, Head of Skills and Investment for Worcestershire County Council and Director of Skills for Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: "We are excited to officially open the new Careers Worcs Hub in the heart of Redditch, within HoW College. It is already making a difference, helping young people across Worcestershire, particularly those not currently in education, employment, or training, to achieve their goals.
We are incredibly grateful to our partners, including the Department for Work and Pensions, Heart of Worcestershire College, and Redditch Borough Council, for their invaluable support in making this hub a reality. The funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and our district partners has been instrumental in ensuring the hub's success. Together, we are providing Worcestershire's 16-24-year-olds with the guidance and opportunities they need to start their career journey on the right foot."
Mark Fitton, Worcestershire County Council’s Strategic Director for Adults and Communities, added: "I’m truly honoured to have been asked to formally help open the new Careers Worcs hub in Redditch, alongside the district council and HoW College. It’s incredibly exciting to think about the futures of the young adults who will come through these doors and what they will go on to achieve. People are the backbone of our county, and it’s fantastic to see young adults being offered the support and guidance they need to make the best possible start."
The Careers Worcs hub in Redditch is now fully operational, with staff already helping young people secure employment, training, and education placements. The hub is open to anyone aged 16-24 needing advice and support, regardless of their current situation.
Councillor Adam Kent, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Skills and Economy at Worcestershire County Council, said: "It’s vital that young people in Worcestershire receive the best support and advice to help them gain the skills they need. This new Careers Worcs hub will play a key role in building a strong, skilled, and productive workforce. By investing in our youth, we’re not only supporting individual wellbeing but also laying the foundations for Worcestershire’s long-term economic growth, in line with our Corporate Plan’s focus on skills, wellbeing, and prosperity."
The Careers Worcs Redditch Hub is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm and can be accessed via the Archers entrance to HoW College on Peakman Street. For more information on Careers Worcs, visit the Careers Worcestershire website, call 0300 666 3 666, or email careersadmin@worcestershire.gov.uk.
