To mark National Thank A Teacher Day 2023, Councillor Tracey Onslow, Cabinet Member for Education at Worcestershire County Council, has penned an open letter to the county's teachers and support staff.

“Dear Teachers and Support Staff,

Today is National Thank A Teacher Day, and on behalf of Worcestershire County Council, I want to take a moment to personally thank each and every one of you.

The hard work, support and commitment that you demonstrate on a daily basis is greatly appreciated. Over the last year I have visited many schools in Worcestershire and witnessed first-hand the positive impact that you make on the lives of our children and young people to provide them with the best start in life.

Our educational performance across the county is above the national average, and this is thanks to our dedicated teachers and support staff working in schools.

I would encourage everyone to take a moment to thank their own teachers and show their appreciation for the important role they play in helping to shape the future of children and young people.

With this in mind, I would like to express my thanks to Mrs Tong, who taught me at Franche First School and for making reading so fantastic, and because of this I have been an avid reader ever since.

Thank you all for your hard work, dedication, and the positive impact you make on the lives of our children and young people every day. You truly are heroes in our community.

Thank you.”
