A new podcast aimed at sharing the experiences of young autistic people has been launched.
Worcestershire Children First have announced the launch of their new podcast series, "Mind-Boggling Conversations." This engaging 8-episode series of podcasts features conversations with a young autistic person, covering topics ranging from masking, school assemblies, to clothing.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, Cabinet Member for Education at Worcestershire County Council, expressed her enthusiasm for the series, she said, “I am thrilled to hear that our Inclusion Support Services in Worcestershire Children First have created this new series of podcasts exploring autism through the perspective of a young autistic person.
“By identifying the topics covered in the series, we can help children and young people achieve their full potential in education and be fully prepared to live happy, healthy, independent, and prosperous adult lives.”
Stephen Fessey, Lead Teacher of Complex Communication Needs said: “The first set of podcast shorts features the unique voice of a Year 8 girl at a Worcestershire school. By sharing her experiences and opinions, she hopes that people may understand her a little better and that other children might identify with some of the things she talks about.
“Listening to others about their experiences and ways of thinking is vital to truly embrace the concept of neurodiversity and we hope to capture a range of neurodivergent voices for future podcasts. If you are interested in being on future podcasts, please speak to your school SENCO who can contact the WCF Inclusion Support Services.”
