Bewdley baker Cath Lloyd-Williams, founder of the Doorstep Baker, is one of the many business owners who have benefited from the Mentoring Worcestershire Initiative.

Following 3 years of successful trading Cath decided to apply for Worcestershire County Council’s mentoring programme to help re-focus her business goals.

Cath Lloyd-Williams founder of the Doorstep Baker said: “I wanted a mentor that was going to help me achieve a better work life balance and realise my dreams of writing a recipe book. She helped me to set goals about writing a recipe a week and to hold myself accountable."

“Since completing the programme, I have launched my recipe book on Amazon and secured spots in two local bookshops: Wyre Forest Books and Script Haven. Thanks to Sue's mentorship, I have successfully transitioned from a food delivery business to becoming an author and workshop leader.”

Councillor Adam Kent, Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills at Worcestershire County Council, commented: “The Mentoring Worcestershire programme is an invaluable resource for entrepreneurs looking to refine their goals and achieve sustainable growth. Programmes like this play a crucial role in supporting businesses to adapt, innovate, and succeed.

From a mentor’s perspective Sue Marriott of The Essence of Leadership noted that: “It was inspiring to observe Cath grow in confidence as she worked meticulously over the six-month period toward achieving both her business and personal goals in the face of some unexpected challenges.

“I feel privileged to have been selected to mentor Cath whose progress and growth have given (me) a great sense of fulfilment. I was particularly touched to receive a message from Cath when the formal mentoring programme ended."
