Improvement works on Market Place in Redditch have been completed six weeks ahead of schedule.
Market Place is the latest area to see improvements, as part of Worcestershire County Council’s Town Centre Improvement Programme, with the aim of making the city and town centres across the county more attractive to shoppers, residents and businesses.
The street now links in with previous improvements that took place on Alcester Street and Church Green East.
Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Councillor Alan Amos, said: “These works have continued at pace and it’s great that the scheme is now complete.
“The fully refreshed paving smartens up the area, making it more attractive for businesses, residents and visitors, which is very important during these difficult times.
“This is yet another example of the Council’s commitment to making improvements to our city and town centres, across the county.”
The scheme included a full refresh of the paving from the junction of Evesham Walk down Market Place and into Mercian Square and included an upgrade of street lighting, refreshing street furniture and drainage improvements on Evesham Walk. The trees will be planted in the autumn.
The improvements took place, working closely with Redditch Borough Council.
These improvements are part of the wider Town Centre Improvement Programme; a programme that has seen successful works carried out in recent years including improvements to Pump Street and The Shambles in Worcester, High Street in Stourport, Worcester Street in Kidderminster and works are currently ongoing on Port Street in Evesham.
