Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World is the theme for this year’s International Youth Day (12 August 2023).
With this in mind, Worcestershire Youth Cabinet have been reflecting on the findings of this year’s ‘Make Your Mark Survey.’
The survey collects the opinions and concerns of young people from across the county. This year the environment, mental health and a move towards a more sustainable future were key issues raised.
Through the ‘Make Your Mark’ campaign the Youth Cabinet have worked with experts and engaged with local councillors and official to help address these concerns.
Youth Cabinet Member, Anusha said: “Protecting our planet is a responsibility we all share. That's why at the Worcestershire Youth Cabinet we have been working to improve our local sustainability one step at a time.
“As young people we hold the power to change our future, making choices today that nurture our planet ensuring a brighter and greener tomorrow for all.”
Councillor Richard Morris, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for The Environment said: “I am delighted to hear that as part of International Youth Day, we are celebrating the achievements of our Youth Cabinet. Since 2019 they have used their ‘Make Your Mark’ survey to tackle growing concerns around climate change and have shown a commitment to the environment.
“I would encourage any young person in the County to sign up for our Youth Cabinet to make a difference.”
