Today, students across the county received their A-Level results.

Initial data was provided to the County Council voluntarily by 15 out of 24 state funded schools.  This shows that the average score across students’ best three A-Levels was 33.6, which is equivalent to a high-grade C.

13.3% of students gained top grades (2 As and a B or higher) in at least 2 facilitating subjects.

Facilitating subjects are those which are commonly needed for entry to leading universities (i.e. biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics further mathematics, geography, history, English literature and classical or modern languages.

This is the first year that AS and A Levels have largely returned to normal. During the pandemic, results were graded higher as exams could not go ahead. As the normal grading system returned this summer, grades will be lower than last year but similar to 2019 levels.

Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Education, Councillor Tracey Onslow said: “These results are a testament to the hard work and commitment of our students and staff throughout Worcestershire.

“I want to thank all the teachers and support staff for their consistent dedication towards preparing our students. I wish our students all the very best for their future, in whatever path they decide to pursue.”
