This week is Co-Production Week and Building Together, the County Council’s Adult Social Care Co-production forum is looking for new members.

The Building Together Forum is about sharing knowledge and shaping services together. It gives people who use adult social care and their carers a chance to come together and discuss their experiences.

This approach ensures people who use services and their carers have an equal voice and influence over decisions about design, development and delivery of services.

Kerry McCrossan, Assistant Director of Adult Social Care, at Worcestershire County Council said: “Co-production is about people who use services, and people who commission and deliver services, coming together as equals. People who use services, their carers and families are best placed to shape the services and support they receive to ensure it provides the best outcomes for people. Our forum has made great progress so far and we’re looking forward to welcoming new members and their ideas to help us shape adult social care in our county.”

Examples of the co-production working well in Worcestershire includes people with experience of adult social care being supported to create “I” statements for the Adult Social Care Strategy, carers participating in a re-design of carers assessment paperwork, people with learning disabilities delivering a workshop to Social Workers.

Collectively the Building Together Forum has agreed the following overall co-production aims for the coming year for adult social care:
•    to embed co-production in adult social care
•    to ensure collaborative working with partners and residents, identifying common goals and opportunities for Co-production.
•    to establish partnership working with other Partnership Boards and Forums in Worcestershire.

The Building Together Board are currently welcoming applications for the Board membership role. Applications will close on 31 August.
