Officers are asking motorists in Worcestershire to drive with caution after man hole covers were reported stolen in the region.

A quantity of covers have been reported stolen in the Wychbold area over the past fortnight and covers have also been reported stolen from Elmley Castle towards Hinton on the Green.

Officers are working closely with National Highways and Worcestershire County Council to ensure the county’s roads remain safe and to investigate the thefts.

Anyone with any information that could be linked to the thefts of manhole covers is asked to visit the tell us about pages of the West Mercia Police website or call 101.

The County Council are working hard to replace any missing covers with temporary plastic covers or putting safety barriers in place to ensure our roads remain safe, however caution when travelling is advised.

They would urge anyone who spots a missing drain cover to report it immediately to highways on 01905 845676 or use the highways reporting pages of the County Council website.

If you see any suspicious behaviour or suspicious vehicles, or information regarding the thefts, please contact the Police via 101.

The Council and Police would particularly like to hear from anyone who has footage from their CCTV or video doorbells that may be of use in helping catch the thieves.
