People have the chance to share their thoughts about an ambitious proposed network of walking and cycling routes across Redditch.
A four-week engagement exercise is launching today (27th October 2023) and the outcomes will inform the development of Redditch’s first Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).
A LCWIP sets out a long-term plan for delivering new or improved infrastructure for walking and cycling. In line with national guidance, it focuses on areas where there is a larger density of population and therefore the greatest propensity to increase levels of cycling and walking.
Councillor Mike Rouse, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport said,
“We’re working on a new cycle network plan for Redditch, and we’d really like to hear what people think about it.”
“This new plan, called an LCWIP, is important because it helps us secure funding from the Department for Transport. This funding isn’t just for cycling, but also for road repairs.”
“We want everyone in Redditch to tell us what they think about our new routes. We know Redditch already has some good cycle paths, but we aim to make them even better.”
“We want to emphasise that this is just a draft. Nothing’s final yet. Your feedback truly matters to us and will shape the final plan. This is your opportunity to have a say and help us make the best decisions for Redditch. We’re listening, and we want to work together to get this right.”
The outcomes of the engagement will inform the LCWIP document which is due to be drafted and submitted for further engagement during 2024.
The engagement exercise runs until Friday 24th November 2023 and includes an online survey which can be viewed on the dedicated Redditch LCWIP pages of the County Council website.
