Hanbury Show staging summer spectacular showcasing best of Worcestershire

Around 15,000 people attend the popular Hanbury Countryside Show each July since it was established in post-war Worcestershire.

The show’s future was put on hold after the Coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of the event in 2020 and 2021.

Organisers hope to bring back the traditional Hanbury Countryside Show next July.

But they vowed to continue the spirit of the event by staging a one-off celebration this year after it was confirmed lockdown restrictions were easing.

This year’s Hanbury Summer Show will be staged on August Bank Holiday Monday (30) featuring many of the attractions familiar to those visiting the annual July spectacular.

Around 70 trade stands are already booked to appear at the different themed event, supported by public and private sector business partnership One Worcestershire.

Richard Heath, who is one of the organisers of the Hanbury show, said: “he was delighted to see an event taking place this summer.

“It’s fantastic to be staging a show for the people of Worcestershire who have been through so much and I hope many visitors will come and support it,” 

He added: “It normally takes us a year to plan but this summer show has come together in just three months.

“This is an achievement considering the uncertainty we faced after being unable to stage our two main shows in 2020 and 2021 and losing several thousand pounds. The Hanbury event is a registered charity with a focus on educating visitors on farming, agriculture, horticulture, forestry, conservation and traditional rural crafts and activities. It also supports charities such as the Midlands Air Ambulance.”

Mr Heath said: “Worcestershire is increasingly surrounded by and features urban areas so the show is a great way for countryside to meet town.”

There will be a horse show, dog show, farm zone, attractions arena, and a band stand.

There will be a wide selection of stalls promoting and selling a range of Worcestershire food and drink produce.

Around 350 volunteers will help stage the event, which is being held at Park Hall Farm, in Hanbury, near Redditch.
