Ready Steady Worcestershire celebrated enriching activities for children at its second annual celebration held at The Hive last Friday (27 October).
Ready Steady Worcestershire is the county's Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme which is aimed at enabling children and young people in receipt of benefits-related free school meals to attend school holiday activities and experiences during Easter, summer and Christmas.
The event highlighted the incredible providers involved and the wide range of activities they offer to children across the county. During the summer alone, 68 providers delivered activities, creating 20,758 available places for eligible families.
The event featured presentations from several providers, including Severn Arts, Confi Kids, Active Discovery Camps, and PAL Fitness, who shared their successes and future plans for the HAF programme.
Councillor Steve Mackay, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Children and Families at Worcestershire County Council said, “I was delighted to have been invited to this year's HAF celebration. It was encouraging to hear feedback that 92% from a survey of 455 parents that the HAF programme is ‘very important’ or ‘important’ to their family. I would like to thank all the providers for their hard work to deliver such a diverse, inclusive and fun range of activities for children and young people to attend across the county.”
