Five newly qualified Social Workers are celebrating following their graduation.
Cheryl Nairn and Mark Killey, will become Social Workers in Adult Social Care at Worcestershire County Council, following their graduation and successful completion of their social work degrees.
Oliver Stallard, Lucy Griffiths and Lisa Griffiths have gone on to join Worcestershire Children First.
These graduates have achieved their social work degrees via the apprenticeship programme, which was fully funded by the apprenticeship levy.
Over the course of three years, they spent one day per week at the University of Warwick, with ongoing support in the workplace from their line managers and Practice Educators.
Councillor Adrian Hardman, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, at Worcestershire County Council, said, “It is wonderful to see another cohort of our staff become qualified Social Workers graduate through the apprenticeship programme.
“Social Workers have a vital role to play in helping us to support adults in Worcestershire and realise our vision in supporting people to live the lives they choose, in a place they call home, connected to people, places and opportunities that are meaningful to them.
“Along with our recent Ofsted review rating our Children Services as 'good' overall this is yet another reason to celebrate the hard work and dedication of all of our social care staff, including Social Workers.”
Cheryl Nairn, Social Worker for Worcestershire County Council said: “I am sincerely grateful to Worcestershire County Council for supporting the generous offer to provide Social Work training and the ongoing support I have received throughout my journey on the degree. I am honestly so proud to be part of Worcestershire County Council and it goes without saying some of my biggest cheerleaders and inspiration have come from those that I have been fortunate to work alongside.”
Apprenticeships make a vital difference in the field of social work. The Social Work Academy and Apprenticeships Team work together to support employees in gaining a qualification to become a fully qualified social worker.
By combining practical experience with academic learning, apprentices are equipped with the necessary tools to excel in their role as compassionate and dedicated social workers.
