Looked after children in Worcestershire enjoyed their annual fun day last week (20 August 2024).

Worcestershire Children First put on their annual free fun day for foster families and children who are looked after by the local authority.

The event was organised by the Youth Voice team from Worcestershire Children First and members of Who Cares We Care, Worcestershire’s Children in Care Council.

The day was held at Perdiswell Young People’s Leisure Club and included lots of activities for children and young people to take part in, such as a bouncy castle, arts & crafts, games, cake decorating, face painting and a sensory room.

Councillor Steve Mackay, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Children and Families said: “It was brilliant to get invited along to the fun day this year and see our children and young people having fun and joining in with all the activities on offer. We had some lovely feedback from our guests with children going away with smiley faces and telling us that they had enjoyed the day. It was a nice opportunity for foster carers to get together too and enjoy a cup of tea and well-deserved rest while the children played.”

The event was sponsored by System C, who provides the Council’s social care system.

The organisers would also like to send special thanks to Funky Faces, BBC Inflatables, Animal Mania, Worcestershire Libraries, Museums Worcestershire, Perdiswell Young People Leisure Club, Worcestershire County Cricket Club, Green Fingers, Healthwatch Worcestershire and Coram for their support in making the day so successful.
