There’s fun for all the family at Wythall Park on Sunday, 22 June 2025 with Paula Radcliffe’s Families on Track relay race.
Families on Track is an exciting event, supported by world champion and Olympic medallist Steve Cram and the Events of the North team, offering an opportunity for the whole family to enjoy a safe, fun and competitive event together.
Mum, Dad, kids, grandparents, and other friends and family members complete the 5km distance as a continuous relay, in whichever order or combination they decide upon.
Last year Matt Fung and his family embraced the race and bagged first place!
Matt Fung said: “My family and I were delighted to participate in Families on Track in 2024. We’d never done anything like this before, so thought we would give it a go. It was fantastic experience, the atmosphere was brilliant, we all got active and had a blast. I would wholeheartedly recommend this event to everyone, regardless of whether you usually exercise or not. It's a wonderful way to get moving and enjoy some quality family time.”
The children also had a great experience and have even taken some career aspirations away from the day!
Abi aged 9 said: “I enjoyed running with my family and racing against other people. The track loops were easy to follow and to run round.”
Jacob aged 11 said: “It was great. I met Steve Cram & I’m aiming to be a middle-distance runner when I’m older.”
Families on Track is a unique concept of adults and children running together, embracing exercise, but in a fun race format that can include everyone, no matter what age or ability.
The event is supported by Worcestershire County Council's Public Health Team.
Councillor David Ross, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing said: “We really want children and families to enjoy some healthy fun time together this summer and the Families on Track relay is a great way to do it!”
“The race starts at 12.30pm, where family teams of between three and five runners take part, with at least one member aged under 16 and one aged 18 or over.
“Changeovers take place in the “Family Zone”. This is where the fun happens! Each family will have its own Pen in the Family Zone, where they can change runners and cheer each other on.
“When you complete the distance the whole family group joins together for the Glory Leg up to the Finish Line. After the race, each team member gets a Paula’s Families on Track t-shirt, medal and event goody bag to celebrate.
