Ready Steady Worcestershire is back to support families across the county over the upcoming Easter break.
Parents and carers throughout Worcestershire may be eligible to benefit from free holiday club's places for children and young people over the Easter school holidays, through the Government’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.
The local programme is due to launch for the Easter break in Worcestershire on Monday 11 April.
It is targeted at those who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals or are disadvantaged or vulnerable children, children and young people with SEND and those who are Young Carers.
The holiday clubs can help children and young people get involved with new and enriching activities including sport, music, dance, drama, art, cooking and gardening, as well as improving socialisation, helping young people to have fun with friends during their Easter holidays.
Feedback from the programme has been really positive, from parents, children and schools alike.
One of the schools involved gave the following feedback: “Ready Steady Worcestershire has been hugely valuable for our vulnerable pupils, giving them some fun days over the holidays and allowing them to keep in contact with staff and friends and enjoy activities and opportunities that they wouldn’t have been able to access otherwise. It has also a big help to those families to provide a hot meal for those children on the days they attended.”
Tina Russell, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Children First, said: “I am delighted that even more children and young people across Worcestershire, especially those eligible for free school meals, will benefit from the programme this Easter. The Ready Steady Worcestershire team have worked hard with partners to be able to provide a wide range of activities and I would encourage parents to keep an eye on the Ready Steady Worcestershire website and make use of what’s on offer over the holiday period.”
