Exciting STEAM themed event coming to The Hive Library!

STEAMfest, a thrilling event celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, is coming to The Hive Library on Saturday 25 January, from 10am to 3pm. 

Hosted by Worcestershire County Council’s Library Service, this engaging event promises a day of interactive activities, educational fun, and creative challenges for all ages.

Engage with local experts through hands-on experiments, cutting-edge tech gadgets, and artistic projects, offering an exciting introduction to the fascinating world of STEAM. Fizz Pop Science shows will showcase mind-blowing experiments and demonstrations, with three shows available throughout the day.

Inspired by Philip Reeve’s Mortal Engines, a series of epic young adult science fiction novels, children can join a drawing workshop exploring perspective in the built environment around them. The drawings will contribute to a collaborative "cityscape on wheels," creating a unique community art piece.

For aspiring engineers and creative minds, the Lego Bridge-Building Challenge invites families to construct a bridge that can withstand increasing weight, encouraging teamwork and ingenuity!

Councillor Karen May, Cabinet Member for Communities at Worcestershire County Council, said: "This event offers a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to explore the exciting and diverse worlds of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. We hope to inspire curiosity and creativity while showcasing the importance of these fields in shaping our future."
