National Picnic Week returns this week from 17-26 June, which means it is the perfect opportunity to get outdoors for a good old-fashioned British picnic.

This week encourages individuals and families to embrace the outdoors, gather with loved ones, and indulge in delicious meals amidst scenic local landscapes.

There are a variety of countryside sites that fit the bill managed by Worcestershire County Council. This includes Worcester Woods Country Park, consisting of two nature reserves, a huge open field, busy Countryside Centre, a children’s adventure play area, and it’s easily accessed from Worcester and the M5 motorway.

Between Worcester and Evesham, Pershore Bridges is a riverside site that is never dull. Based around the beautiful medieval bridge, the River Avon is teeming with wildlife, boats drifting past, anglers lining the banks, walkers striding out, and picnickers enjoying the outlook.

Tire the children out on the adventure play area at Waseley Hills Country Park, situated between Bromsgrove and Birmingham. Join a guided walk or kick a ball about. Meet friends, let the dog run free or fly a kite. Climb a hill to take in the panoramic views and spot familiar landmarks.

Alternatively, head to the hills! Born from the site of a World War II hospital, St. Wulstan's Local Nature Reserve is a tranquil wildlife haven lying hidden away on the edge of Malvern Wells.

With superb views of the Malvern Hills, St. Wulstan's is a serene escape only three miles away from Malvern Town centre. The Reserve covers over 22 hectares and encompasses a surprising network of habitats.

There are many, many more sites across the County, and to help you find the best spot for a picnic this National Picnic Week, check out further information on our Country parks, picnic places and nature reserves page.
