A new pre-school nursery has officially opened its doors in Droitwich.
Children have plenty of space to explore the different areas of learning, for example a large reading area, a home-corner to encourage language and social skills.
There is also a large outdoor area to allow for plenty of physical activity, as well as seeing how the outdoors changes with each season.
£650,000 of grant funding from Worcestershire County Council has helped to support the building of a pre-school nursery at Chawson First School to help meet the demand for places within the local school community.
In May last year, the County Council lowered the age range of the school from 5 year olds to 9 year olds to 3 year olds to 9 year olds.
Funding from Section 106 Education Obligations was allocated to develop the nursery building.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, Cabinet Member for Education at Worcestershire County Council said: “I’m really pleased to hear the positive impact the new pre-school building is having on children and I’m really glad we’ve been able to help meet demand for places in the local community.”
Chair of Governors, Nick Sanders said: “We are very excited for the opening of Chawson Pre-School. It is a delight to see this impressive new building come alive, providing a vital foundation for our children as they begin their educational journey watched over by a caring and committed staff team.”
Rebecca Redfern, a multiple medallist in Paraswimming from Droitwich, said: “I am honoured to be a part of the opening of the new Preschool building at Chawson First School. This is a wonderful addition to the school and the community which I’m sure will be an exciting learning experience for future children and their families.”
The Mayor of Droitwich Spa, Councillor Kate Fellows, also attended the official opening.
