Defibrillator at County Hall

This ‘Restart a Heart Day’ (Monday 16 October) Worcestershire County Council is urging everyone to ensure they know how to perform CPR and how to use a defibrillator.

Worcestershire has over 860 defibrillators. They can be found in community spaces like shopping centres, pubs, schools, community centres and residential areas. You can find a handy map highlighting defib locations here: Defib finder – find the defibrillators nearest you.

CPR and defibrillators are literal life savers – If you do not have a defib in your local community, there is funding available to help you acquire one. You can find more information on the Access to CPR and defibrillators pages of the Worcestershire County Council website.

Dr Lisa McNally, Director of Public Health for Worcestershire said: “Defibrillators are essential devices that save thousands of lives each year. We are supporting communities with greater numbers of over 65s and limited access to a defibrillator to apply for funding via our website.”

“If you have a defibrillator, please remember to register your device so the ambulance service knows where it is located.  You can register your defib by visiting The Circuit - the national defibrillator network. Please also ensure it is regularly maintained and serviced.”

“We are urging everyone to take 15 minutes today to learn how to use CPR using this short online course: Learn CPR in 15 minutes | RevivR | BHF - BHF, to find out where their closest defibrillator is and then how to use it by taking this 2 minute online course here Defibrillators (AEDs and PADs) - how and why to use them - BHF. Those 15 minutes could be the difference between life and death.”

If you have a defib in your building or community don’t forget to register it here The Circuit - the national defibrillator network . Registering the device ensures that the ambulance service know of its location and availability in an emergency.

Restart a Heart Day is an annual campaign led by Resuscitation Council UK, the British Heart Foundation, St John’s Ambulance alongside other charities.
