County Council celebrates energy efficiency award success

Worcestershire County Council is celebrating following success at the West Midlands Energy Efficiency Awards

The Council picked up the award for Regional Council or Local Authority Body of the Year, at the awards ceremony on 8 June.

The award highlights councils who have shown a true commitment to promoting energy efficiency within their region and thanks them for their service to their local communities.

Councillor Richard Morris, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, said, “This is a fantastic achievement and testament to the hard work and dedication that the team put in to promote energy efficiency in the county.

“It’s great that we’ve been recognised at this level and shows just how much we’re doing to implement energy efficiency measures in Worcestershire.”

The award recognised the County Council’s work to promote energy efficiency schemes across the county, such as Solar Together, the Household Support Fund and improvements to its estate.

The Council was recognised for the support they offer to businesses, through the Community Renewal Fund, Business Energy Efficiency Programme and the Low Carbon Opportunities Programme and the work the Council undertake in partnership with district councils.

The award, also highlights, the commitment to delivering Carbon Literacy training for staff and work to tackle Fuel Poverty with partners, as well as showcasing the expertise within the Council in supporting energy efficiency measures.
