Comberton Primary School has celebrated the official opening of its brand-new school extension, a modern and innovative learning space designed to enhance the educational experience for its pupils.
The opening ceremony on Thursday 13 March, led by Councillor David Chambers, Cabinet Member for Education at Worcestershire County Council, marked the successful completion of the project.
The new extension, which includes six contemporary classrooms, three adaptable group rooms, and two floors of purpose-built learning areas, has already made a significant impact on Year 4, 5, and 6 pupils. The £2.1 million project, funded by Worcestershire County Council, was delivered by building contractor Leons Building Services.
Speaking at the event, Councillor David Chambers said: “It is an absolute pleasure to officially open these fantastic new facilities. Investing in education is one of our top priorities, and it is wonderful to see how this extension is already benefiting the pupils. These modern spaces will support their learning and development for years to come.”
Headteacher Deena Frost added: “The new classrooms have been transformative for our school, providing an inspiring environment where pupils can thrive. It was fantastic to celebrate the opening with our school community and showcase the impact these facilities are having. We are incredibly grateful for the support from Worcestershire County Council in making this vision a reality.”
The new facilities have been seamlessly integrated with the main school building and are now fully in use, providing a dynamic and engaging space for pupils to learn, collaborate, and grow.
The removal of the three temporary mobile classroom blocks has also allowed for significant improvements to the outdoor space. The expanded playground and reinstated outdoor gym are already benefiting pupils, and next term, the school will begin developing a large sensory garden.
This new space will offer children the opportunity to grow their own produce, enjoy reading in cosy seating nooks, and explore nature - nurturing not just their curiosity, but also their wellbeing and sense of spirituality.
