Worcestershire County Council provides Adult Social Care support for residents aged 18 and over living in the county. The Council are sharing all you need to know about getting help for yourself or a loved one and how it’s paid for.

Residents can access a range of services, including assistive technology, equipment, and reablement programs designed to enhance independence. When necessary, the Council can also help organise domiciliary care to support individuals in remaining in their own homes for as long as possible.

To find out what type of care you require, you can speak to one of their advisors through ‘The Adult Front Door’ or by calling 01905 768053.

The first step is recognising that you or someone you know may need extra support. Julie, a local resident who contacted WCC when she reached this point, said: "When it became apparent that my dad could no longer live alone and needed to go into residential care, I was distraught. The Care Contribution Team at the Council made the whole process manageable. They provided simple, easy-to-follow information and supported me every step of the way. Those final years for my dad were happy ones, and I will always be grateful to the people who helped me through when I needed them."

While Adult Social Care is not free, support is available to ensure it remains affordable. If your savings are below £23,250, you may be eligible for assistance.

The Council offers an Online Contribution Calculator to provide you with an estimate of any potential costs. If a care package is needed, the Care Contribution Team will conduct a full financial assessment to determine the exact amount you will need to pay and can also advise on additional benefits that you may be entitled to.

Councillor Richard Morris, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: "Our goal is to simplify access to care, ensuring that residents can focus on receiving the support they need in an open and honest way. We understand that arranging extra support at home, or looking for options where care and support is provided alongside accommodation, such as Extra Care or residential/nursing homes, can be hard to navigate and very worrying. We want to ensure you have access to all the available information to support you through this journey."
