There are no formal qualifications required to become a Barista. You can apply directly for jobs. Some employers may prefer you to have experience in customer service or catering.
You could do a college course such as Level 2 Award in Barista Skills, which would give you some of the skills to do this role.
You can train through a hospitality team member intermediate apprenticeship.
This will usually take 12 months to complete. You'll do on-the-job training and spend time at a college or training provider. If you have an EHCP you may be able to apply under the DfE exemption which allows the apprentice to use Entry level 3 English and Maths qualifications. The apprentice would have to be component enough to successfully achieve all other aspects of the apprenticeship requirements, become occupationally competent and achieve Entry Level 3 in English and Maths before the end of their apprenticeship.
